Works in Black and White

Slide Show

Finally, something to view under black and white! I am posting a page of black and white images from the past year. Each image was photographed with a large format camera on FILM! I know, kind of odd in this day and age of digital. But the large format camera gives me much more control over how the final image will look. Control over focus, and perspective that you don't have with any other camera. Because I have not had until recently a way to get the photos into the computer, I have not had much opportunity to share these images.
Each of these images is offered in a limited edition series of prints that are hand processed in the traditional method in a chemical darkroom on silver gelatin paper, mounted and matted on acid free rag board. I have just started making small Silver Chloride Gelatin prints from the original negatives and copy negatives. These contact prints have increadable depth and tonal range. Each is slightly different through the use of a gold toner which adds in the archival quality and changes the color of the final image from a blood read through to a slightly cool rich tone. Each again mounted and matted on 11x14 rag mat board ready for framing.
Infrared film adds an interesting switch from reality. It records wavelenght of light we are not able to see, therefore the results can be surprising. Foliage records as being very light while the sky is almost black. I enjoy the glow that living matter has as it reflects the IR light in a way we can't see. I will try updating as often as possible, but frequently my Flickr page has the most recent images. Please check it out and tell me what you think!
